What is a good first lens for an amateur photographer? - amateur candid
I have a Nikon DX, and now that I'm comfortable with the camera, I begin to try new things. Everything I read said that the photo, it would invest in a better optical quality, but there are so many possibilities!
I especially love shooting candid shots of people and nature, and a combination of both ... I'm closer to photography, that means I should get a telephoto lens?

With his Nikon DX-format, which you could do portraits and work closely with this target.

How far is "Close Up" for you?
If you are taking pictures of a few inches from the objects, then a macro lens, it would probably be a good choice for you.
If more people take things and the need for a medium (normal) distance and near, they offer is considered a prime (fixed length) Lens - like a 50mm lens from Nikon. PRIME LENSES results generally give much better quality than a zoom lens that includes coverage for the same distance.
The length also forced to "normal" fixed-length lens were physically move in and out and think of his compositions (You can still have some nice depth of field effects as well). This could be a good workout if you do as a serious hobby or career in late May
Why do not you go after a macro (Nikon calls micro-I) of the lens? It works like a short telephoto lens for your camera, if it works, and a presentation - and the macro lens is usually already very strong.
A telephoto lens does not always mean that it is a true macro lens. If there is one, is very expensive.
You should have a lens of 50mm or 35mm lens. These activities are very low light and portraits, and so ... Quick little men. And look on eBay for a used Nikon lens macro. The manual focus lenses are generally quite cheap and works very well. A telephoto lens do not focus close enough to you and why do macro-lenses. Most lenses only focus on a subject, a distance of 4-5 meters.
Yes, see above link.
I will replace my Nikkor 55-macro-macro, with the 60, if I spend more time on the D90 later this summer. It took me about 30 years consumption at 55 a little, still works well, but not AF.
